first post / a few questions.

First off, I just registered here. It was a toss up between this forum and another. After browsing for a while I decided to join up here. So far so good. I got some questions but first a little background.

I started in a Integra, 90 RS to be exact, it was mostly stock the entire time I had it with the exception of a upgraded suspension kit, wheels/rubber, cold air intake and custom built cat-back. It was a fun car and I enjoyed it. I sold it to a friend and went to the VW scene for a few years, after owning 3 VW's I decided I wanted back into the Honda scene again. So here I am.

1. Is there any specific year of the GS-R (3g) that shines above the rest?
2. What should I realistically expect to pay for 3g GS-R in mint condition?
3. Any known issues to look for when buying? (the list was never ending with the damn VW's)
4. What would be the best magazine to subscribe to and what is the best shop manual to own (like the Bentley manuals for the VW's)

This is general info I like to know before going head first into a new project, any help or constructive criticism will always be accepted and appreciated.

I hope to be in the market for a GS-R within the month.

Thanks in advance!:headbang:

Mint condition GSR? most likely it'll be a 98-2001. If you must have a mist one it'll be be between $5000-$7000. It also depends on the mileage.

Mainly little things you should check. Check for bad CV axles, worn clutch(not a huge fix), check the oil..

RUST..these cars depending what state, can be rust buckets.

Check for leaks. A car that has mods such as Intake, Header, exhaust are signs of it being pushed hard (high revvs, raced.)

These cars are known for having salvaged titles due do THEFT recovery or wrecked.

Don't buy the first thing you see. Don't limit your self with the year. You can find a fixer upper for dirt cheap or a Mint condition one for an arm & a leg.

hey thx for your input. ya i plan to shop around for a while, i don't wanna make a bad buy. regarding the trim of the car, is the gs-r worth shopping for and waiting until i find one to buy? isn't the engine different top and bottom? i know its got vtec but isn't the displacement different too and higher compression and rev? also i read they come with a close ratio transmission over the other trims. i do plan on light to medium modding and tuning; more focused on the suspension system and weight reduction.
