fan trouble

got a 99 integra gsr, the temp sits just below the middle, only a little bit tho, so i changed the thermostat. found out that it was at the right temp, that is where gsr's temprature is suppose to be, well while doing this i realized my fans never run. used my multimeter and found out the wire leading to the fan switch gets 12v so i jumped the wires and the fans ran. so you would think it has to be the fan switch right? i found out i was wrong, i put a new one on(cant get down there to do continuity test) and it did not fix the problem. took that one back and tried a new one, also still nothing. so i went to a junk yard and bought a wire to connect to it(25 cents) and spliced the wire, hooked it and did continuity test, needless to say nothing. so why is my brand new fan switch not getting hot enought to turn fans on. again brand new thermostat and radiator(got hole in it) the car could sit for an hour and not run fans(never tried figure of speech) is it maybe just because its cold out. hopefully you can help no one else even tries because i have done all the things they would suggest.

nothing from nowhere
ill jump in. it may be not hot enough if its cold out . does the car overheat? after it warms up hold the rpms around 2000 and see if they come on.

Your fan only turns on when the coolant hits a certain temperature. I want to say above 200 degress f, but not a hundred percent sure. If overheating's not a problem in the car, I wouldnt sweat too much. You already did everything that I would think you would need to do if there was a faulty piece to replace.

Do the fans kick on when the A/C is turned on? I'm not sure where you live, but I know here in Delaware we have cold weather right now and my fans almost never kick on. It's normal, and if the car isn't overheating then it's not an issue. Remember if the fans run too much, the engine won't get up to normal operating temperature and it will waste gas and loose performance. It sounds to me like everything is okay, just keep an eye on it in the spring/summer.
