soooo then what do u do to prevent that?? route the dump tube back into the exhaust via welding or what? And why do alot of guys do it if it sounds like shit?? I don't want my car to sound shitty everytime i go into boost lol Should i be looking for a turbo with a internal wastegate? (i only want like 7 lbs)
Yes. Routing back into the exhaust stream in the downpipe is the idea. Most people don't do it because it is just much harder to fabricate wastegate piping that goes from it to the downpipe and merge them smoothly together. It is so much easier to put a simple dump tube on it. If you plan on staying at lower psi, an internal gated turbo will make things alot easier if you don't want to run a dump tube. I think so many people do it because it seems most people
(that I see) run turbo's on civics and integras that are too big and, most the time, have external wastegates. They all seem to want a big T3/T4 even if they are only shooting for 220whp, which I don't understand. For example, why would you put a big external gated T3/T4 capable of flowing 450hp with the right supporting mods if you only want 7-10 psi? But there are too many people that do this and are happy living with unnecessary lag and sounding crappy.

so the wastegates vented into the atmosphere sound like shit??? Lets say its doing 7 pounds, and theres a 2.5 inch exhaust how bad will the back pressure be? It souldnt make too bad a difference right?
It does sound kinda crappy at full boost. Think about like 1/3 of your exhaust gas going unmuffled straight out a 1 foot tube :???: I run around 460-475 awhp with my wastegate plumbed back into my downpipe. Of course it is a funky looking custom made downpipe, but it sounds and performs good.
