engine trouble

this just started and im clueless on whats going on. about two weeks ago my car started acting really weird, at first i thought it was from me tightening my valves too much. but when i loosened them it ran better but it still would act like it was being shut off when cruising at 50 in 5th gear r running out of gas but only for a second till i would hit the gas a little harder and gain a couple of miles an hour then it would smooth out and run fine till i dropped back down. it does it occasionally in the other gears but not as much. i checked the plugs and there fine, i dont think the gaps off they look the same but i didnt check. and there only 4 months old. the dist. is new so is the cap, rotor button, wires, fuel filter, fuel pumps about a year old, theres no cat or resognator and has a new muffler and header. checked the battery to see if it was getting bad but its still pushing out the right of mount of amps. any info would be helpful. trying to get this motor to last a few more months till i can get my project motor finished.

When you say you "loosened" your valves, what do you mean? Are you talking about valve lash? If so, you should use gauges to adjust them.

thats what im talking about. i didnt have one and a couple got really loose, it has happened a few time and i keep forgetting to buy one. when they get loose like they did im afraid to drive any further when i start to hear the tick, at first i thought i threw a rod bearing.ive got them all loose enough now that they should not be the problem, actually i think i need to tighten them up some but im not going to touch it till i get a gauge to make sure they are perfect this time. i know thats not the problem. please guys if anyone can think of what might cause this shit to happen reply. i dont want to spend money at one of the garages hear to have it tested. they charge a 100 buck for the first hour to check and see what codes pop up on there computer. and mine is still throwing 1 and 20 and the other day it was throwing 7 but i think its gone.

i just went back through my book to make sure i was right on my codes and i wasnt. i thought 7 was a misfire but its the throttle positioning sensor. hopefully that is all.

I was on my way to work this morning and my check eng light came so I stop to check them. Only 1 and 20 pop up 7 is gone and there were no other ones. I'm so confused now don't know what to do. Does anyone have a clue

really 70 people and nothing. i thought i just was doing something wrong and you guys would get it off the bat. guess no one can help on this subject
