well i got an 95 ls and my dad has a 97 accord. both are about same size engine but his responds way faster than my teg. the teg has like 246k miles on in the accord has like 120k. i just know that it should be running the way my dad's does but it doesnt. does the engine just get weaker as it ages or might there be something wrong?

its an auto. what im saying is it accelerates slower than the accord. does that mean i need a new engine or do they just die slowly like that.

It's a honda... we arent fast. lol

with 246k miles you're NOT going to have the same engine response as a motor with half the miles on it..

I'm pretty sure it needs a rebuild if you're really worried about it.

That's because the accord is faster.

To put this into perspective....picture a 100 meter dash between an 18 year old athlete (a brand new Integra) and an 86 year old man (an Integra with 250,000 miles on it). Obviously the old man isn't going to school the kid...but he still may make it to the finish line. The Integra is pretty damn reliable and your B18B1 might last you to 300,000 miles...but age is age and with age comes the fact that things are going to break/not work as well as they should.

What model is your dad's Accord? Accords and Integras aren't exactly a great comparison...they're worlds apart in terms of engines (power and torque) and weight of the car. Accords generally have a little bit more torque than Integras do. I'm assuming your dad either has an F22B1 (EX Accord) or an F22B2 (DX, LX, etc Accord) since you said its fairly "close" in power to your motor.

Have you always kept up on maintaining the car as long as you've owned it?
Do you know how well previous owners took cars of it?
Are you up-to-date with tune-ups?

Not really. The Accord is a 2.2L while the Integra is a 1.8L. If you were to divide 1800cc into 4 for each cylinder respectively, that means you get approxmiately 450cc per cylinder. Which means that the Accord has almost an extra Integra cylinder worth of displacement. It's only around 50cc shy of what that would amount to.

The reason the engine seems weak is because it is. With that many miles AND auto tranny, it's going to be very weak indeed...

you my friend probably need a SERIOUS tune up if you want to get even close to the way it was just 100K ago. start by cleaning the throttle body and intake manifold. you should see a HUGE difference. it may take a few times depending on how often it was actually done...its reccomended every 30k miles

automatic tranny has longer gears than a manual and what motor do you have? an accord has a F22 and we all have a b18 of some sort...so im curious what motor do you or your dad have
