Engine "raspiness"

I started my car the other day, to notice when him driving the sound coming from my bay doesnt sound as deep as it did days before. It sounds very raspy, and isnt too appealing. I havent done anything that could have resulted in the difference. Ive been working on a kill switch, so my interior is removed. I popped the hood while the car was running, and put my head near the intake. Its an AEM with a K&N filter, which I cleaned a week ago. I could hear the suction through the intake. I didnt notice this before, but then again I dont think I ever popped the hood with the engine running anyways. Also, the intake doesnt seem too secure, because I am able to lift it up and down as it rotates on the IM. Maybe a bad coupler/seal, allowing air to get pulled in from elsewhere?
