I'm in the process of of shaving the bay and am looking at the seam sealer and weighing my options for cleaning up the edges. I'm just looking for the best and or cleanest way to have a nice smooth area where the sealer covers. I've seen builds where the edges are welded, ground down and recovered in a smooth layer of seam sealer, and I've seen just smoothing the old sealer with sanding. So first, does it need to be welded or is it secure just with the sealer? I ask this because I also want to know what is the best material for covering the edge that can be painted: ie seam sealer,,bondo, fiberglass, etc. I am just worried the possible chassic flex in these areas could split bondo etc and ruin the paint.
