Electrical Problems

I bought my 97 LS from someone who had a subwoofer and amp installed, so the wiring is connected but not in use anymore.

Recently the interior light has stopped working and when I move the switch from "on to off" the seatbelt lights on the dash flicker on and off. The windshield wipers will only work on high speed and the rear defroster doesn't work or light up when I press it.

Any ideas? Could it be the sub and amp wires?

check your fuses under the dash

Checked the fuses, they seem fine, I replaced them with new ones but the wipers, interior light, defroster still don't work.

The Generic electronic Module controls the windshield wipers, this system controls all the electrical items like windows door ajar warning and so on.
You need to have the GEM quick tested to determine the area to look for the fault, it is very rare for the GEM to fail, the most common cause is the W/S wiper switch.
And next the motor's internal contacts that switch it on, or the motor itself, get the Generic Electronic Module (GEM) tested with a scanner.
