Electrical problems... Need advice... wiring? fuse box? short?

I have a 91 integra. I'm seeking advice on what to do.

I recently had a rear tire replaced and the entire control arm/etc assembly along with it. I didn't think this could ever relate to an electrical problem, but when I got the car back, the stereo and speakers were distorting out.

This happened before so I checked out the stereo wiring to try and see if any wires weren't connected properly. They seemed to be fine, but after I accidentally touched some of the copper wiring parts of the stereo wires to other stereo wires, I began to notice other problems and the stereo simply went dead. I could jiggle the stereo wires around a bit and sometimes the stereo would flicker on but it wouldn't stay on.

anyways... beyond just stereo problems, now I am experiencing widespread electrical issues :/

my dome lights do not work any more. When I push the lights on they do weird things like make the truck light on the dash turn on instead of the lights.

Also my dash lights at night no longer work now and just last night I realized that my tail lights no longer work. fuck. however, my front lights and rear brake lights do still work.

I'm wondering what I should even do. I know electrical problems are a BITCH to fix. heh. and expensive :/ should I just scrap this car? Try to sell it for a grand or so and find another one? Where should I go to try and solve this issue? Does anyone think that just replacing the fuse box or something could solve the issues? I hate soooo much that the stereo was fucked after fixing the rear wheel, because I would not have fucked with anything if that wasn't the case and now the entire electrical system seems to be screwed up. gahhhhhh. thanks for any help or suggestions. :/

Sounds like you have some major wiring issues. There shouldnt be any bare wires exposed that you can touch to other things. Of course that's causing it to short out and blow fuses, reset, burn out etc. Same will happen if you go over a bump, around a curve and these wires vibrate and move.

We cant obviously tell you where to look as we dont have the car in front of us but look for any modified wiring and inspect it. The next point to look for is old corroded grounds in the engine bay.

gah. where do i take it to fix something like this? i mean most mechanics dont do electrical right? it would probably cost way too much i guess to get it fixed. i just dont know wtf to do. i guess i just sell it for a grand or so and screw someone else over and get a different one? that seems like the only option. f***. i just paid like 400 to get this rear wheel fixed and now i have a car that seems to be slowly dying from electrical issues. what a waste. im so pissed and frustrated. hate this... i had no idea fiddling with the stereo wires could cause widespread shorts across the entire electrical system. it seems impossible to me... i wish i never screwed with it :/
