Dyeing Carpet

Anyone have any tips or hints on how to do this most effectively? I don't want a huge mess and I don't want to waste product and such...

I was thinking about a spray bottle with some Rit Dye mixed with water then just misting the carpet.

Its black carpet thats faded quite a bit and has some stains so I'm trying to refresh the look a bit...

If you use a spray bottle it will get in between the carpet and body and mold which wont be good and it will be uneven.. Pull it out, degrease it, then use a load of RIT dye.

Its out of the car, in fact its never been in the car...I'm going to check out the TI link and see what I can do.

get that carpet/interior dye from a spray can at autozone you just spray it on and its done. there is a thread on a ht i think that a guy with tan cloth interior changed it from tan to black with only a few cans and came out good.
i can't find it yet but ill keep looking

Back in college we used to dye our own disc golf discs, we'd use nail polish remover to help set the dye its got acetone in it which helped it set without the heat. Maybe I'll try that on a small section under one of the seats...
