:drive: i have a stock integra what have u guys found to be the best rpms to shift and launch at, also the best way to shift without killing my clutch.:drive:
depends on ton of things. If you want a good launch it varies w/ how much grip you tires provide, and your clutch work. But i normaly launch from 23-2600rpm, w/e a semi quick cluch release. All it takes is practice and you will find that sweet spot. Just practice not spinning the tires. Chirpping is ok but keep it to almost dead quiet chirp
I've never launched a car at 4500 that didn't spin its tires like a cat in a washing machine. around 2600 sounds good. i have to go by sounds/feel in my civic though. another advantage of getin an integra.
i found launching mine at like 3000 with a smooth and slower clutch release. it would spin up a little and then catch traction about 4200 just in time to hit vtec. i also have an aftermarket clutch and flywheel so it is easy. just dropping the clutch at 3000 though will melt the tires to redline...if you have a gsr
while were on this topic i might as well ask...what if you have a higher stage clutch? Do you have to rev the engine up higher to hit that sweet spot? I have a stage 3 clutch on my gsr and it grabs like a bitch....it's overkill for the mods that i have right now but the previous owner put it on because he was gonna turbo it...eventually i'll finish what he started
i let mine out slow. kinda slip the clutch a little bit so you don't slam all the power to the wheels at once. smooth it out a bit so you get a good launch and not a burn out. launching like that also lets you do it at a little higher rpm if your smooth with it. and we all know that our cars make most of their power at high rpms. i do it to where i get a little wheels spin and it catches just in time to hit vtec.
in my gsx you just side step the clutch at 6000 rpms and it'll do 0-60 in about 4 sec flat!
probably just has a shorter engagement huh? try letting it out slower. mine worked great at 3k ease out the tires would spin to about 4200 or so then grip right before i hit vtec. if you hit vtec with the tires spinning its just gonna spin them all the way to redline. you want to have grip before it hits vtec or a good launch turns into more of a burnout. that's what works best for me.
i went to the strip last month and i launched at 5k. let me tell you, it was the hardest launch i have ever been in. I was actually scared. and i got a decent 60 with stock gsr blades. 2.2 60 ft. by the way i have a stage 2 clutch and trust me, its used to it. lol
