door electric connector with broken wire - how to repair

Hi everyone,

just bought a 2000 se and the door locks were not functional. trace it down to the power wire going to the control module was broken right at the connector that plugs into the door. Just wondering how the pin is hooked in the connector to see if I can extract it out and get another pin with a bit of wire to solder the broken connection back up.

also, I haven't had the plug out but looking one at the wrecker today, it seems there's a tab to press in and then it should pop off like most others... kinda like the way they've done this (atleast first impressions), rather than just running the wire straight through (although potentially more connections can be more problems).

thanks,
jaime

if i were you i would just replace the whole connector... get one off a junk car and just solder the wires a few inches back instead of trying to fix a broken pin

Adel has a good idea, but it would probably take longer. If you can't get the pin out/ new one in, bypass the connector, cut the wire on the other side, and solder them together.

you're right, if the connector becomes too much trouble, I'll just run it through and splice it in. I'll leave it for now as I'm going to get a connector at the junkyard in a week or so and i'll see if I can finesse a pin out.
thx
