My buddy wit the RS wants to know if you need a boost controller..... He thinks he can just run the vacuum lines without the MBC, isn't is unsafe to run it like that?

He was saying something about how the EWG is regulatiing the boost and he don't need the MBC, but is he right or do you really want a MBC....

an external wastegate will regulate that...you can use a MBC if your turbo is internally wastegated (lets say 5psi) and want to boost to 10psi...a MBC will hold the boost until 10psi and after that will let the wastegate vent out the extra boost....dont quote me on this though...let some of the turbo guys on this forum respond to this as well...

if you dont have a boost controller then you can only run the set psi on your wastegate spring
and i see your friend has alot of question...

why dosent he just join the site and ask himself lol

i wont boost another stock motor; just doesnt make sense now. for a good turbo kit you will drop at least 2k and i mean for 1000 bucks you can refresh your bottom end with some forged internals and run 500whp. im workin on something for the summer.....

but to the OP, no you dont need a boost controller the wastegate will regulate pressure on its own, but only at 1 preset boost level. that is unless you get a synapse wastegate and then you have a manual boost controller built in.

Yup. And +1 for Synapse!

PS - If the external wastegate has a 14psi spring he will NOT be able to go any lower than that. You can only go as low as the wastegate spring will allow. A boost controller will only allow him to raise the pressure above what the spring rate is
