does ls/vtec need a new oil pump

you can keep it, but If I were you I'll replace it. nothing wrong installing a new one, old one might die out.

It doesn't need one but the stock ls pump won't supply the neccesary oil to the vtec head so that will cause premature valvetrain wear, which will also lead to early engine failure, imo you should just shell out the 100 bucks and get a type r or gsr oil pump.
