DIY Tinting Windows?

I was at Wal-mart looking for new Wiper Blades, and I came across an aisle that had rolls of tint. 35%, 20%, 5%, and 2.5%.
I was wondering if it's the same idea as tinting/putting vinyl on our head/ taillights? Has anyone done it before? Its $12 for 2.6ft of tint from the brand Black Magic and they have different quality? There is Basic/Select, Better(from here on it's metallic coating?), Premium, and Professional. Is there such thing as quality of tint paper, or is tint just tint and does what it's supposed to do?

id think the quality would be pretty shitty.. like those ones you see that peel and bubble.. but ive tinted windows before. it was quite easy. as for the rear, you need a heat gun to form the tint on the curves.

1. clean the windows
2. mold and position the vinyl on the window and cut it
3. spray windex, open the vinyl and stick it on your window
4. use the squegee to push out the air bubbles
5. wait.

I would rather have my car tinted by a pro. They have pre cut tint. cutting the tint fckn sucks.

hm.. I'm going to say never mind. haha, I don't want to risk it being those shitty tints.

Cutting the tint doesn't look so bad.. looks like all you do is trace the window with an exacto knife. But I haven't done it so I don't know anything about it.

Do you guys know any places in the 619/858/760 area with cheap prices for good tint?

i dont know if they're still here but 'tint devil' on miramar does an awesome job. i had a few homies that worked there and they did some dope shit :thumbs up

if they're too expensive, any hole-in-the-wall car audio/tint shop would be good

Tint fades to purple boss.

call around to local shops and find someone that carries lumar, or jonhson film. those are the two best films on the market. not walmart or oriellys. some best buys tint in the install bay, and they usually use lumar. its more pricey for this film but is far better than walmart.

Ohh it fades to purple..
Most likely shops will have better quality tint film, and therefore leading to higher prices. But you know, it's fun once in awhile to have a little DIY work. I haven't done anything to my car in so long.. haha
