hey guys i have kinda been looking for a cheap 2nd car to buy in case something goes wrong with my GSR and i found this 90 civic hatch Si http://eugene.craigslist.org/cto/993147781.html
and i was thinking if i could get him down to $1100 would that be a good deal for a 2nd backup car/maybe project car in the future....i was thinking that would be awsome considering its an Si that 19 years old... cosmetically it definitely needs work but only 139K miles with the original B16A....maybe a restore in the future. Anyways. Good investment or not?

i wouldnt pay a dime over $500 bucks for that car. its honestly not worth any more than that. its a 90 civic in "borderline-fair" condition that looks like its seen better days. talk him down more or find something else for a beater.

also, a car is not an investment. an investment is something that should grow in value...cars only depreciate in value (with some exceptions as collector cars)

Yeah and they don't have B16A's, they have D16's, which are just single cam non-vtec MPFI motors.

there is nothing special about that car whatsoever. it'll make for a bangin beater car and great gas mileage...but its not worth over a few hundred bucks...si or not. "si" is really overrated...this applies to earlier civics and preludes.

if your looking at something like that pick up a 89-91 crx, drop a zc motor in it and do the suspension, roll cage, and some performance mods. by then you have spent like 3000-3500 and you have an scca qualified race car...

its good to have a back up car, thats why i still have my 82 audi coupe!!!! runs like a champ, but the starter went on it, so now my back up car needs a back up car lol

Dude just lowball him to see how low he would go. 1.3k seems pricey for a 20 year old civic, no matter what the mileage. I bet you could get it for under 1k easy

I wouldn't pay anywhere near thousand $ just for that car... simply just because it's a "Si" doesn't mean that it's gonna come with a B16 or what so and it's so overpriced with the condition its in right now... I had a 1990 Mazda 626 5spd for a backup, loved it! Got it for $450 with a stereo system installed in and ran like a champ, only needed an alignment done. Now these days Civics Si and Preludes are so over priced...
