Customize Turbo Setup

I’m looking into getting a 96-00 gsr and putting a turbo on it. I know the turbo is a little big and I will have to build my engine but I want to put the turbo on first. This is the setup I was thinking about going with and I want some feed back about it and some help with the parts.

Turbo – Garrett GT4088 Journal Bearing

Manifold – Spoolin Log Manifold

Intercooler – Ebay FMIC Short piping

Exhaust – Need Help, one that’s got a good deep sound for $300-$400

Downpipe – Need Help, Which work good for you $100-$200

BOV - I was think about a greedy rs, but not sure $100-$200

Fuel pump, Injectors, Oil feeds/returns – Do you know if they sell a complete setup or which are good parts $300-$400(on whole fuel system)

Anything else I need
And what psi could I run with a stock b18c1

My thoughts...........

-That turbo is just a little big.

-Spoolin manifolds are good and there is nothing wrong with an EBAY i/c. They work fine as long as the piping is bead rolled and use t-bolt clamps

-I'd go with the Synapse BOV.

-Walbro fuel pump w/ RC Engineering Injectors

-And i wouldn't run more than 10psi with a good tune on a stock b18c1

I second everything he said.

And I add: spoolin DP and Thermal Research & Development 3" exhaust. Actually I think its like $500. But definetly worth it. Or custom exhaust.

What you usin to tune this turbo setup. I would recommend a Hondata S200 or a S300 if you got the dough for one. That's jus something else to consider when goin under pressure

i've heard the Synapse BOV & Wastegate to be AMAZING, can anyone back this up for me and Spody02?

yeah i was thinking about getting a Hondata 300 as well
and getting a ACT streetlite flywheel and motorsport stage 2+ clutch before putting on the turbo
i looked into the BOV and they seem pretty legit, i have to take a look at the downpipe
but i was also thinking about just getting a turbo back exhaust?
any thoughts on those?

i can. i was the first person to get them, i know peter. the parts are badass. i have had zero complaints with any synapse product. also, i believe that turbo is a t4 turbine housing and the spoolin log manifold only comes in t3. that turbo is humonguous and should not be used on a stock motor. you would not build boost until time to shift basically. it would suck donkey nuts, especially on the street. if you are trying to go with that turbo, get a built motor and definitely go with a bigger manifold. im running the spoolin quick4, and its great but it does make the oil drain kinda low. i suggest going with the ramhorn or protoype1 manifold. just buy some 1000cc injectors and be done with them. going with something smaller and then having to upgrade later is retarted. for anything above 450whp, i would suggest getting a nice fuel setup. ill be getting dual walbro 255's for my setup. right now im running a single and it works fine for anything under 450. above that, and i think you are pushing your luck. i know ppl have made more, but id play it safe. and you dont really need a fuel pressure regulator, especially if you are getting professionally tuned.

hondata s300 is a billion dollars. it seems to me you are tryin to do this on a budget, and while hondata is a great tuning software, its not necessary. you can get crome pro for free and it will work fine for the power level you will be achieving on a stock motor. also, i would get a better clutch than that, or you will have to upgrade when you build the motor. a turbo back exhaust is just an exhaust that includes the dp. on our cars thats very hard to do since every setup is slightly different. just get a turbo catback and have a shop weld your downpipe to it. that will solve any clearance issues you will have buying a turbo back; your downpipe will probably not fit.

ok i was looking at the prototype 1 and i like that. its just a little much
but what is a crome pro?

and turbo should i be looking at for a stock b18c1

crome pro is an ecu program that has adjustable fuel and ignition tables. after you turbocharge your car, the amount of air entering the engine and amount of fuel needed is very different than how your car came from the factory and the stock ecu will not work. you need to get the car tuned by a professional. turbo's you should be looking for is say a t3/t4 60 trim with a .63ar. that is what i ran on my stock gsr.

GoodLuck at making 700 sidewheel horsepower spody!

but on a serious note, i second the thermal reasearch exhaust because thats what im runnin on my car.
