custom box for DA

hey guys Im planning on doing a full box layout in my DAs trunk. Since my trunk board is all screwed up and bent, i was planning on cutting the trunk shape out of some strong/lightweight board and vinyl cover it. The thing i cant figure out is how to draw the dimensions of the trunk because of the curving and angles, and what kind of wood, any suggestions? im planning on hinging the board so it'll fold up to stick the amps on the underside, maybe plexiglass it. And what would be the best material for the enclosure itself, should i stick with the 3/4" MDF? o and im gonna tap the trunk light to some glow so maybe some kinda mirror-reflection effect in the trunk? I repainted the trunk last weekend cuz there was a taillight leak, and sanded out the rust =D. so idea? suggestions? anything'll be helpful

i would imagine any type of wood would be good for the trunk. if youre going to cover it with whatever though i would just use 1/4 inch plywood. could go with the sanded plywood but its damn expensive. about $26 for a 4x8 sheet at home depot. the unsanded stuff is a bit cheaper... if youre gonna be doing all that woodwork already id just sand it myself if you choose to. but i dont think itll make a big difference. anyways just take some cardboard and cut out a little at a time to get the shape of the trunk. just keep tweaking it until you get it right and then youll have a pattern.

When I built panels for my setup, in order to cut it right to fit all the curves, I used cardboard and paper and just went angle by angle. Trial and error, really. Just cut a piece to fit into an curve or corner, when you get it right move to the next corner. When you get two that fit right, tape or staple them together, then just keep going all around the trunk doing that. Yeah, it's gonna be tedious and take hours, but it'll fit like a glove and look great in the end.
It took me an entire day to make just these 2 panels:

Yep, 3/4 inch MDF is ideal for 95% of subs.
