coolant temperature sending unit

Here's my problem, the wire broke off the section of the wire inside the little tube with the clamp, and I dont think the sensor is faulty, so I was just planning on soldering a little male quick disconnect to a wire and crimping it back onto the wire still attached to the temp gauge. anyone think this is a bad idea? cuz I cant think of any other way w/o going to acura for an expensive little part. kragen's was $60 for the sensor

just wire it the way u said ...make sure u put some heat shrink so nothing gets into the bare wires.....should work fine
