Cold Air Intake Whistling

What's up club integra members?

Last year I bought a 99 LS coupe, and now that I'm out of school and I have a job I'm looking to start putting some more power into the car. I'm probably just going to stay with the motor instead of a turbo upgrade dispite what some critics might say.

Anyway, 2 weeks ago I had a AEM cold air intake installed and I can already feel and hear a difference in the car which is great. But what I'm unsure about is that there seems to be this whistling comeing from the right side of the car where the intake is. It goes beyond the intial sound that you hear as the intake is pulling in air when you accelerate. It seems to occur when you press the pedal down only slightly and not to the floor as if you were accelerating on a highway. I have checked and rechecked to make sure that all hoses and/or connections are tight, and I have a feeling that the reason there is this whistling is the intake cone's close proximity to the bumper and what not.

I've never had a cold air intake before, so is this the norm or is there something that can be done about it.

P.S. sorry for the long description, but I just thought I would be thorough.

its just because of the intake. All intakes do it, depending on the size and location of the intake plus the amount of pressure on the accelerator is what makes the difference in sound. Nothing is wrong.

here's a metaphor that'll teach ya.

think about when you whistle (if you can)......you softly blow and you get the sound, but when you blow hard you only hear it really shortly and then its a bunch of air....its basically the same thing with the car

The whistling sound is normal. I used to have the AEM CAI in my GSR and it did the same thing yours is doing.
Pretty nice increase in power though, huh? I was so happy with the added power and throttle response that intake gave me. It got me hooked on doing more mods.

besides the regular whistling sound it already makes, the extra sound might be a little hole or a crack somewhere in the intake. why would u all motor a Ls engine...ls are good for turbo...u should turbo. or supercharge

you can still go all motor with a LS and make good power. Look into Crower. you can completely rebuild for high compression around 12:1 and higher. They offer everything you need too

CAI do have a whistle but you might want to check your IM gasket and make sure its not leaking
if that were leaking he would hear it a lot more than just slight throttle......you can't keep gaskets from making noise
