i bought these coilovers used, before the accident i was hearing a 'creak' from the driver side from when i made a turn, talked to someone who had that same noise, he said it was the strut and to just shoot it w/ some wd40/pb blaster and i'll be fine. well i did that to all the struts prior to reinstalling.

well when i reinstalled my coilovers i also installed my skunk 2 UCA/front camber kit.

on my way to work today i was feeling an unusual 'twitch' in the steering wheel. granted i have not gotten a alignment yet because locally my car is too low for them to get it on the machine, so i planned to get an alignment this upcoming weekend in a town over, in Charleston...i looked under the hood to see if i could see anything obvious and came across this

if you look in this pic you can see a chunk missing of the 'red part' i guess its part of the strut tower housing?

again this is a full coilover setup. anyone w/ advice or anything?

I'm unfamiliar with DAs, but is that red bushing on top of your top hat?

edit: nvm skunk2 coilovers are like that.

Did you tighten the bolt all the way? Maybe the pbblaster caused too much lubrication at the bushing area, making that area slippery enough to move around?

i dont know seems like both sides would have done it if that was the case, right?

from the looks of it, it looks like the strut isn't even installed all the way onto the body. you still have a lot of thread left to tighten.

btw i think those are Pro-S.

i never unbolted the strut from the full coilover...what does it entail to tighten it? just remove it and tighten the bolt?

If it isn't installed all the way to the body then shouldn't more thread be showing once the car isn't lifted anymore?

i think he's talking about the coilover assembly itself, not it being bolted to the car

since no one was able to help and in case anyone else runs into this problem and searches, hopefully this will help:

Joe from Skunk2 said:
PB Blaster and WD40 are the worst things you can use on a polyurethane bushing, they will dry them out and cause cracking and breaking much like you have there. You need to use a polyurethane lube for bushing like that. We do have replacement bushings for those you can use the contact information listed below to get a hold of me for purchase.

Thank you for contacting Skunk2 Racing, if you have any more questions regarding Skunk2 products or policy please let us know.

so turns out it was my fault that what happened, happened. so i'll be calling him later today to order these bushings and hoping to get some installation instructions
