Clutch question...'93 LS

Okay first let me say I have never had a clutch go out on me before. The night before last I was driving just fine, no shifting issues then all of a sudden I was stuck in 3rd, could only go from 3rd to nuetral. While playing with it I managed to get from 3rd to 4th only a couple times. I got it to the house in 3rd and parked and smelled the "burning clutch" odor. Does this sound like my clutch is bad or the cable? Several friends say there is usually a sign of clutch going bad such as slipping gears but I noticed none of that. Car has 173k and no idea if the clutch has ever been replaced or not.

did your clutch pedal feel any different? Im thinking its either your clutch like he said or maybe the cable adjustment

Try adjusting the cable and see if that helps

The pedal just felt like it had no "return", meaning it basically stayed compressed to the floor. Very little return if any.

I'm in the Army and work mad hours so it may be a short while before I get time to really check it out. Thank goodness the Teg is just a A2B and I have my pickup to drive for now.

If the pedal won't come up from the floor it's probably your clutch cable.
