Cluster Covers

Okay I got a cluster with white faces and the wiring already good to go.. BUT NO INVERTER So I bought one off ebay and got it today. Now I wired the positive and negative to my fog switch. Before I go on

MY friend had done this too, his inverter made a pinging sound when it was working.

So Mine was making a pinging sound but I get no lights on the gauges.

So I take my test light and see if its getting power at the dim switch. Heres what I noticed: Theres 3 connector possibilities. Only two are used that go to the box of the inverter, so when I used the test light it seemed one in the middle was getting constant positive voltage, and the other was the dimmer voltage I figured this out by moving the dimmer from low to high and hte light on the test light would get brighter or dimmer.

So heres what I did, I looked at where I got this thing i messaged the merc, and looked at the pic of the item I got. It has 1 wire for each connector coming from that dimmer. So 3 wires going to that box I only have 2. In the pic theres 2 red and 1 black I have 1 red and 1 red/black am I missing a wire???

lmao okay... Here goes again

BASICALLY - I have bought a cluster with white faces that require power to be lit

PROBLEM - It didn't come with Inverter to power it

SOLUTION - Bought a inverter off ebay.

SECOND PROBLEM - I hooked it up thinking black/red wire was negative and red was power.

NO SOLUTION - It creates a humming sound from the inverter box when powered but will not power the gauges.

RESEARCH - I went on ebay where I bought it and contacted him and waiting for contact. In mean time I saw the picture from it and it has 3 wires mine only has two. The wiring on the one in the picture has 2 red wires and One black, that all go to the box. I can not see anything else

I think I need that black wire but I don't know

TROUBLESHOOTING - I took both wires and criscrossed to see if it would do anything to it and there is no humming if I switch it around. But I noticed that if I take a test light to the dimmer which has the black/red wire and red wire and open spot for that black wire that isn't there, but anyway I put it to the red spot and it is lit, checked the black/red and it dims/brightens as i use the dimmer switch.

I WANT MY DASH TO BE LIT what am I doing wrong I am not geting power at the connectors to the dash gauges. Help me

I am getting Zero light in the dash.... And I hear humming from inverter... I thought maybe it was day that was problem but my friend has same shit and u can see clearly when on during day... I am going to go look I guess to see if they work. I dont' have all data and it would not include this because it is aftermarket part

no it would be included in the instrunment cluster section. it is probably a ground if you have no power then.

no bro.. its a wire missing from the kit. I think its a return ground for the dimmer... sigh I hate my life lol I dunno Here ill get a pic

See how those two red are going to the dimmer and then out the black just goes right from dimmer to the box

and that other one is the set for the connectors to hook the dash up
