closing hood problem

hey guys so iam having a small annoying problem.. my issue with my 2000 ls is my hood, shes a b**** to close. no matter how hard you slam that hood down, and i hate slamming it :(. even if i rest it down and try and push down and close it she still wont latch up. it takes me a could 10mins to close my hood... someone end my embarrassing misery

The latch probably gets stuck "open" when you pop it. Same thing happens with my '94 toyota pickup. I have to manually reset the latch closed before closing the hood.

Pop the hood, and make sure the latch doesnt stick open. You may need to lubricate it some to keep it from sticking.

Also, theres a possibility that when you pull the handle inside the car, it is not releasing and the cable not resetting. Make sure that after you pull the handle to push it back where it originally was. Mine does this since I did a cable-relocation.

I just pull on the hood release cable a little. I guess the "green" part of the cable that's right next to the latch is ripped from the rest of it. So, when my hood doesn't close, I pull that part up a little and try closing it again. It'll usually work.
