check engine shift light

i`ve seen this done before.. and was wondering what do u need to do this.. making your check engine a shifter light.. anyone here in CI done this before.. and is there any D.I.Y. that anyone can post..

What I've wanted to do is set it to go off at the right RPM so that I know when to shift and stay in the powerband, for racing. I'd set it for when I reach peak HP. Easier to just see the light blink on than to watch the tach, when you're going that fast.
It's a feature in Uberdata, but I haven't actually had it done yet.

wow! reading this makes me really interested too! i'll also want a DIY if ne one has one hahaha

Ive thought about this, could put it in my cruise control spot since I took it out.

rape your car more. you'll get used to the sound quick. i could tell exactly when to shift in my gsr without looking at it. i had just run through the gears enough to do it by sound. i'd hear VTEC, then secondary runners then a second later....perfect shift

just wire a high intensity led to be a shift light and make a hole in your cluster and slide it in!

well i didn't mean drive it like you stole it. but you don't ever run through the gears? if you look at the power at the wheels multiplied by the gears and final drive, the best time to shift is at redline because the hp and torque peaks are so high
