Cheap first project car (Not a Honda)

First off this isn't a Honda, or even a Japanese car.

My friend's brother has a Black '99 Mustang that threw a rod a little while back. It's a V6 Convertible, with 120,000 miles on it. The transmission shifts smoothly, it's a 4 speed automatic.

So far I know the car needs:

-engine (can this be rebuild instead of replaced?)
-ABS sensor rear
-MAF sensor

I checked the suspension out, to see if it needed anything really badly or anything. Rocked it up and down, shook the tires, ball joints are good, shocks are good it doesn't bounce. New tires. All fluids were good, in transmission and all that too. Engine hasn't had an oil change in a while i guess which caused it to fail.... sad dying at 120k due to stupidity =/

The car has been sitting since October or so, it's still sitting there. Car runs and drives.

I'm somewhat close to the father, and I think he's sick of looking at it, I might be able to get it for less than $500... maybe even free.

I plan to either keep the car or sell it depending on how much I would get for it. It would be nice to have another car around anyway.

So is this worth doing?

local scrap yard / salvage yard has 4 Mustangs to pick parts from. Engines priced at $500.

So is it worth doing?

Ummm.... To flip it might be worth doing.

I'm curious how it rubs and drives with a thrown rod.

Auto v6 convertible mustang is every high school girls dream car. I'd buy it, swap one of thos 500 dollar motors in and sell it for 2500 on craigslist

youre f***ing stupid for posting this in a thread where i said two times that it's not even a honda. by the way im sure lots of people wouldn't mind answering a few questions based on experience. some of the people here drive subarus, go call them stupid too while youre at it.

oh and yeah i know its an automatic.. blah. my Integra is a stick, so fixing and selling is an option. funny you say its a chick car.. the owner told me chicks love it LOL
