car stereo and alarm/keyless entry question

i have a 98 integra gsr. i'm thinking about replacing the stock car stereo with something with an Aux so i can hook up my mp3 player. will this deactivate the factory keyless entry/alarm? if so, is there any way around this, like a harness that i could buy that would still alow me to have an aftermarket stereo while keeping the factory keyless entry?

I dont think it will... I have an aftermarket unit and my factory alarm still works.. the alarm is located under the drivers seat

you dont have a gm!!! the factory alarm has nothing to do with the radio.

I recently was wondering what to do as well, on my integra they bought some cheap alarm/keyless entry. I'd like to keep it but I need to swap in a different deck. So if the factory deck is disconnected everything will still be the same?

radio is in no way connected to the keyless entry. two different things. you have a anti theft code thing on the oem deck though...but who cares if you are getting a new one

cool, sounds good. Thanks for all the reply. i just assumed that they were connected because everytime i disconnect my battery i have to enter a security code of some sort. i'll go ahead and start working on it then as soon as i get my car back from the shop (some old lady rear-ended my car) :cry:

yeah its because of the anti theft system

so if i get a new car stereo, my anti-theft will no longer work? is there a way around it? i did a search and all i found was a solution for civics. pretty much it says to install the new car stereo without disconnecting the old stereo and just mounting it in the back of my dash. i'm not sure if the same is true with integra's.

why would you do that? anti theft is only there for the stock deck. As long as you take your face plate off when you are in parking lots etc you will be fine. just keep your windows up, and take the faceplate off. i was like you when i first got my deck...but its all good. if you are smart about it it wont get stolen. i keep my deck in cause i live in a nice neighborhood. just get a good paging alarm and dont keep the din tools in your car and you should be good

its pretty easy to steal an integra head unit unless its strapped in on that back brace. but like samurai said, if you dont have the face with it, who would want it!
