car staying at 2000 rpm when idle

not too sure if this is normal but if I start my car for the first time for the day it turns on fine but when i'm just sitting there the rps are at 2000 by themselves, in neutral. but after I drive around for a bit it stops staying at 2000 and just stays at or around 1000 like it should, any idea why this is happening and if its a bad thing?

2 is a little high for warming up, it should be around 1.5. And warmed up should be 700-1000 so I think you're fine for that aspect.

yeah I thought 2 was high for warming up too

first you should check your Idle air control valve. also ckeck for vacuum leaks. if all thats good try just adjusting the throttle body cable.
