car quits when warmed up

Hey all. New here and could use some help. My son gave me his 95 teg. Has a 96 1.8 v-tec. Was changed over from auto to 5-sp w/stage 3 clutch, header, rev limiter, cold air intake. Problem is when it's driven about 30 min or so it just quits. Wait about 5 min and it restarts. Have replaced: ign switch, coil, plugs. Had icu tested and it passes. What am I missing? Saw some really nice looking cars that others have here. Thanks

Your son gave you a lemon. Sue him.

There are other parts of the distributor that can go bad. Have the whole thing tested. Two ways to do this. Look up the guide on testing the parts called 'advanced ignition troubleshooting' or borrow a known working dist to swap and test it out. There could be many things many things but u gotta start somewhere in the process of elimination. Describe what happens when it turns off and when you try to restart it. There can be clues.

It will just quit. No bucking or backfire. When I try to restart, it just rolls over. Not overheating and I don't smell fuel. Btw, couldn't sue my own son. I'll need him to take care of me when I get old(er) and gray(er).

Kidding of course.

This could be a fuel problem. Have the fuel pressure checked. Is it fairly consistant with dying out everytime you drive it and how long it takes to restart? Im a fan of eliminating the distributor as a possibility so just keep in the troubleshooting list.

Will keep the dist. on the radar. Dumb question time: will a fuel pump overheat and shut down? I'm going to replace the filter and pump relay since they are inexpensive. Had a parts guy say that the fuel pump relay could be cutting out. Thought it either worked or didn't. Someone else thinks it's the main relay. Like the stance on your car. Lowered or bigger wheels? I'll try to upload some pics of the "green paperweight" as my wife calls it.

My buddy had a similar problem with his Mitsubishi Eclipse. It was the pump relay cutting out on him.

Thats what sucks about problems with cars cus theres dozens of things that could be causing it so i try to test as many things as i can before spending money replaceing parts that dont need it. But you even see dealers/mechanics do this.

Thanks. Theyre lower offset wheels 16x8. Dropped about 2 or 2.5".

Here you go, check fuel pressure, pump, replace filter.. if not check your ignition timing.

Quick question.. hows your idle right before it feels like its going to die.. does it constantly fluctuate.?

Normal idle is 750 +50 -50

Gotta be more specific bro

Idle is good. Being a 5-sp mine idles just a bit higher. Like i said, it just dies out. I checked all the dist. stuff and all seems ok. Gonna replace filter anyway since it's inexpensive. I'm leaning towards the pump since it's probably the original and the sending unit won't show above 3/4 even when full. Where is fuel pump relay? Not in box on fenderwell.

Fuel pressure checked out fine. Was a little confused. One person says main relay and another says fuel pump relay. Did a little digging and found that they appear to be one and the same(remember that this is my first Integra). Headed up to Auto Zone in the a.m.. to get one. Hope this works. Will keep posted.

Your main relay controls the fuel :)

Hondas are known for there main relays going bad the soldering on the main relays was not enough and when the car warms up the connections lose contact which results in a car just shutting off .

The reason you can start it again after you wait a couple mins cause the main relay has cooled down .
