Car Died on me, Ratteling coming from inside engine

So I was driving last night and all of a sudden my car lost power and shut off, I tried turning the car back on but it wouldn't turn over or even attempt to turn on, so I rolled to the sholder and let it sit for a minute. then it turned over and with a little gas it turned on but quickly died.

waited a little longer and it turned over and stayed on but when I reved my engine it had a loud rattelling noise in the engnine and my RPMs dropped and the car turned off.

any ideas what the ratteling might be? I would check but I'm at work at the moment and won't be able to check it till later.

yeah I was thinking bent valves or broken rings on my pistons,

I had alot of weight in the car and I was pushing the engine pretty hard,

no the belt is good

if the belt is good then the car doesnt have a bent valve, your piston rings wont go bad since they only move up and down, they get worn and either A. start to burn oil, or B dont hold compression you can still drive on worn rings but ive never work out the rings to where they just "break" i abused my b18b.

I would say something with the fuel is not right or a sensor is there a check engine light?

If its rattling... something is bouncing around in there or broken.

You may have popped a rocker arm out of place because they arent secured very well in the non-vtec motors. Or you could have done much worse and spun a bearing or maybe a spark plug broke and dropped into the combustion chamber.

You really wont know until you get to the car and start inspecting it.

That sucks, did the mechanic drain the oil and find a bunch of metal shavings in there? It may be more cost effective to find a used motor and swap it over than to rebuild the bottom end, but then again you may not get a 100% healthy motor.

Mine did it the same way but I made it drive 10 miles to get home.lol sounds like you let it get hot or low on oil or just drove it like I do a when it spun it caused the car slow down on that cylinder which in turn caused out of time fire. Either way you loose all power when the bearing gos. It was only running right on three cylinders.

If you plan to rebuild. And are going back stock. I would bore the cylinders an change the rotating assembly not much more in price e and worth it since it will be stripped either way. You can get stock replacement rock pistons and rings for about 150 for the set, machining the block is about 125 to 150 without line bore but reccomend that looking at another 75. Turning the crank 75 to 100150 bearings about the same S turning the crank. As lo g as there is no discolor or marks on the rods you can use the stocks..gasket set will run a 100.timing belt and component 125. Water pump 35. That's just the bottom going stock. Might as well pull the head apart shave it have the seats reset that's 125just machine and 75 shave. Gaskets and seals come with the kit.about 1200the bucks give or take a couple of hundred. Craigslist hear has several motor swaps with trans less.but you don't know what your getting.
