I have a 1990 Acura Integra that is having problems starting, If I play the clutch and turn it on and off then sometimes it will start. I have ruled out battery, alternator, plugs wires cap and rotor. I have replaced all the above. Once it fires over it runs fine but it just talking it into starting. I know it has something to do with the starter, just dont know what just yet. It does engage, and click, but its like the power is not getting to it like it should. Any ideas would be great.

could be a loose connection, but im goin with jim. But go out there and make sure you dont have corrosion or loose contections around your battery or starter.

Thanks for all the advice. I have found the problem. With my test light in hand found that the clutch sensor was not working properly, and I had a faulty ground, so after regrounding the entire system and cleaning of the clutch sensor, she fired right over.

well seens how you guys have alot of great ideas. Can you tell me why when I shift into reverse it likes to grind and jump out? I know that there is no revese syncro on it, and have looked over the presure plate, It has a brand new clutch on it (still a little stiff) but when I get under the car the shift rod seems to be a little lose, would that cause the problem and how much slack is there supposed to be in the rod? Thanks and I am sorry to bug you guys about this

My name matches again lol
Mine does the same thing most of the time, and so did my friend's DA. Have no idea why. My DC4 never grinded in reverse; just a nice click. Maybe low tranny fluid?

I try to just start the car in reverse now to avoid that awful grinding noise.
