buying a clutch kit online

I have a 91 DA with a b20b and I don't know how to go about buying a clutch online because I know that if I type 91 integra clutch kit then they're probably selling clutches for the b18b and its flywheel. does this even matter? I don't really know if b20b means that the flywheel is a different size, format (whatever the proper term is) than the one on what comes stalk with the car (b18). please let me know.

on a different matter, since this is my first clutch job and I want to do it right. I've heard some people say that I need to resurface the flywheel and some say that I should just spray it with break cleaner and wipe it off. any advice on this would also be welcome.

thanks as always (\/) 0,,,,0 (\/)

You go off of what tranny you have. There was actually a thread recently that I was reminded that older bseries tranny's have different splines. Find out what transmission you have and buy the clutch for that one. The flywheel bolt patterns are all the same. As for the flywheel resurfcing...personally I think now would be a good time for you to upgrade to a lighter flywheel, just my opinion though. Especially since you'll have to take it off if it needs to be resurfaced.

Looking for my next Teg..
if you have a 91 with the original a1 or s1 transmission then you use the clutch for that.. the GSR tranny ( YS1) as a slightly larger spline as does the Y1 from a 92-93 integra

For the most part a b20 is a b18 with a larger cylinder bore.. nothing more.

so first, how do I find out what transmission I have? next, how do I find out how much my flywheel weighs? third what should the lightweight flywheel weigh? and fourth, how do I find out whether the flywheel, engine, and clutch are all compatible?

ok as stated leave the motor out of this equation... it is irrelevant...

Flywheel can be between 8-11Lbs

transmission should have a tag affixed to the front of the casing wit a number stamped on it.. the first 2 characters are going to be a1, s1, y1, or in the case of a GSR transmission, ys1

if it is not there you are going to have to pull the transmission, and count the splines on the input shaft and also check the input shaft diameter.

if this is the transmission that came with the car and you ar ere using it you likely have an a1 transmission...

it says S1 1086480. on all the spec sheets it says s1/j1 instead of just s1. anybody know why?

not sure, but as long as the clutch kit you buy says it s for a S1 type transmission you should be good.
