Im looking into buying a 90 acura integra. I love all things honda. I used to have a prelude. Now I have a 89crx from texas with no rust.

So. First things first. I found a 90 integra in very clean condition for 750$ the problem the car has is it starts and drives then dies in around 8 mins. I havent seen the car yet but im going to pick it up in two days. It has the b18a1 and the guy says it starts drives for 8mins makes a clunking noise in the engine bay and loses power slowly and then dies.

Im pretty experianced with cars but ive never heard anything like this. Do you guys know what the problem could be? He says it doesnt leak oil or antifreeze and the car drove fine until this happened.

Could be a dozen things, could be bullshit, who knows. People will say anything to sell a car they don't know how to fix.

Its actually a 91 integra. One of the cleanest da9's ive seen in the midwest. Thank you for your response and advice. The guy im getting it from doesnt seem like hes that mechanically inclined so i hope its something simple.. he said it ran fine until it started doing this. So im for sure picking the car up on friday, im going to run a compression test on it first. I hope its just the fuel filter or something simple. Everyone should chip in and let me know what you guys think the problem might be. He said it starts and runs for 8 mins last time he checked. I dont think the problem is internal in the engine. I think it might be a valve or something. The teg should reach its normal operating temp around 8 mins after you start it. Do they have like a safety mechanism or something? Any and all advise is well appreciated. Please offer your opinions and advice. Thanks -Integra Dave

P.s. im pretty mechanically inclined. I do id say about 90% of the work on my csrs myself. I love hondas. First car when I was 16 was a prelude si 4ws I bought it like im buying this teg. The fitv was the problem with my lude and I got a 89 crx which is my baby and project. Im getting this teg becaue I need a dd, I love hondas, and my buddy with a civic with the jdm b18c in it says I seem like a integra person. And I like integras. (Sorry for getting off topic) just thought I should share some stuff about myself)

But please offer your guys input. Im not familiar with b series engines or integras.

Any advice you guys give me will help. Someone must have had this problem or one similar. Ive searched and found a little bit of helpful info but not what I was looking for. So please help me : )?

What dozen things could it be bloodshot? And is there a way to troubleshoot it? Im trying to have it fixed asap, its gonna get real cold real quick.

If it truly runs "fine" then suddenly runs like shit once it gets to operating temperature, I would look at the o2 sensor. BUT I've never seen a bad o2 make a car run so bad that it stalls though. It probably is throwing CELS, so learn how to check those when you get down there.

I say it could be a dozen other things because it may not be doing EXACTLY what he is saying it is doing.

If the shell is in pretty good shape, like not needing trim pieces replaced and not rust it's worth every bit of 750.

Yea usually an o2 sensor will just throw a code. You dont really notice to much besides a tiny loss of power but never just the engine stopping. But maybe a o2 sensor coupled with a valve and maybe another problem is giving us the list of symptoms.

Mine does something VERY similar and I am fairly certain it is a fuel issue. I would go over, like you said, fuel filter, clean the injectors, etc. to either find the issue or rule out fuel being the problem.
