Ive got a 91 integra ls its got the stock b18a1 engine in it and its only got 92000 miles on it. Is it worth swapping a new engine in or is that engine good to build up on, it will be a daily driver until i get insurance money from my other car that got totaled then things might change. im gunna make a build thread once i get things started after christmas, just wanna get all my information first before i get started. If a swaps worth it what type would be best, i want fast possibly turbo in the future.

What are your plans going to be with the engine? When you mean build, what type of stuff do you want to do?

I wanna make it faster but I'm not sure of the possibilities so I can't say exactly, what can I do to the engine I have? As opposed to other engines

Depending on how much money you have most people turbo there car for more power. That can cost a bit of money. Knowing this is your daily i don't know how a turbo would be on daily.

I see a ton of people running turbo's on their daily. And everybody I've asked running turbo's on these motors are getting 26+ city. 30+ hwy.

It's a great motor to turbo. Can handle quite a bit of power stock. Definitely keep it. And 90k isn't really a bad mileage if it was maintained well. My cars original motor was a 273k before it died. My rebuilt one will probably last three times that. :)

a A1 motor built NA style will be less daily driver friendly as opposed to a C1 or C5

im not sure exactly how it was maintained the guy before me had it for 20,000 miles but i think he beat on it a little, i know his gf crashed the front end but im working on getting that fixed, just need to order the new radiator support, got new fenders and bumper for it, the old body parts werent really damaged, just one fender but i figured newer was better. also theres oil gunk build up on the engine to buut he said he just never cleaned it off from a previous oil leak so that says a little of how he took care of it lol

Do a JDM B18C swap from an SIR-G.

Pretty straight swap and good power from a stock motor unless you plan on turbo on your current car.

It all depends on your goals.
B18A1 = Turbo
B18C = Turbo or N/A

You can't get big power from a B18A1 unless you drop alot of money into it.

92k miles is quite low for a car of that age. just add a few bolt ons and enjoy the car as it is. when the motor does finally go (will take a long time if treated right) you can consider dropping a B18C motor into it. or you could just turbo the current motor as soon as you have the funds and parts.

I hear a lot about dropping japanese motors in. So my question is, giving this set of ideas, what happens when you tell the DMV that you did this? Can the car be smogged, let's say in California, and pass? I know a lot of people might find that as a challenge...

Thats good advice.

OP: Think about it you have a car that is almost 20 years old and has less than 100K miles on it. Bolt-on the hell outta that bitch and have fun!. :rocker:

Bolt ons won't give you much power.
Leakdown/Compression test to see if it's healthy, then turbo it. :)

SnD3, what they don't know won't hurt them. ;)
