Brake Problem.

I noticed when I was driving about a week ago that when I was in motion (coasting or on the gas) there was an odd screeching sound coming from the rear driver side tire and I figured out that it has to be the brakes becaase I didnt drive it the rest of the night and the next morning I just drove it about 100ft so my dad could listen to it.

By the time I got out from the 100ft 2mph dash, the brake rotor was hot enough to fry my skin.
Dragging brake pads maybe? Maybe they've been dragging for a while and finally wore the pads down to the point that they actually make noise.

BTW the car doesnt feel as though the brakes are applied.

well, the pad might be resting on the rotor enough to cause friction but not actually be noticeable when driving. I would try and change your brakes first, but it might be the caliper.
