Boosting in Cali?

I wanted all motor at first with my 01 GS-R.. but now I think I want to save up the money to go FI. I was looking at the JRSC kit because it's CARB legal but I see alot about a small turbo like a GT28 being better than the JRSC with ability to raise the boost much higher than a s/c would ever see. I know there's pros and cons to each of these set ups. I was wondering what members in CA are boosted? If I was turbo'd and pulled over for some reason is it just a fix-it ticket or worse? I know riverside is really bad. And here in San Diego certain parts are bad for cops but I haven't had any issues with police yet. I heard that the cops here are "profiling" evo's, STI's and Nissans more than Honda's now days. HP goals would be 250whp-300whp and I'm not sure of my budget yet. I know my friend that's boosting his RS has invested at least $7,000 on all the internals and valvetrain on the B18C-1 he's swapping and he hasn't even got the Turbo, Manifold, EMS, or any Fuel upgrades yet  I got to ride in a 450whp supercharged NSX and dam! haha And two of my friends are going to turbo their BMW's next summer as well as one of my buddies with a 240sx. I feel kinda out of the loop.

Keep It Clean
My car doesnt have a turbo or sc.

Only thing I can think of is smog..sometimes it can be a bitch. Cali is known for shitty emissions tests.

My friend had a boosted 240..he was always shitting it because of cops. When caps see parts that are popular in the "street racing scene" it is an automatic impound. They do still crush vehicle in cali that fit the description of a "street racing vehicle".

Fuckers lol I know Riverside is really strict. When my girl at the time lived up there I hated going to see her because they would always follow me (back when I had the eclipse)

I may be boosted one day. All I can say is just do it. They cant impound your car unless you're actually doing something to deserve it.. I.E. Going over 100 mph, racing another car, etc..

I do know that the GReddy turbo is street legal, but, if you know anything else CARB legal, let me know.

WRONG

HKS, Edelbrok and greddy all make CARB legal turbo kits. It needs to hjave the carb plate on the stuff as well for it to be carb legal. I work for the ARB so i have some insight into this

I'm pretty sure that was just a wrecking yard "having fun". But how many places do you work for anyways?...

This is the actual police crushing illegal street racers..

IMO, the car shouldnt be crushed... It should be exported to the other side of the states. Why waste a good car, even if the engine is stolen. Disrespectful & unforgivable

For tegs?! I'd be interested. And last time I checked the greddy kit was no more :( There's a guy on my campus that had a JDM front DC with the Greddy kit.. he was even rolling around without a bumper for a while lol
