boosting a stock b18

I was wondering if it would be smart or worth it to turbo my stock Integra, per intake, headers, and high flow cat. The motor has around 65k on it. It's the b18 non vtec motor. I Judy want some more power out of it and can get a turbo for pretty cheap.

Yeah you could. I have seen plenty of B1's on 12psi with stock internals making decent power. I wouldn't advise DD for a long time though without at least getting a mild tune. Stay away from ebay kits also. Those are prone to fail and not worth the money.

not true on the ebay. I know a guy that had a sohc civic boosted on a legit no name brand ebay turbo and its still runnning to this day and he owned it for 6 months before he just sold it not too long ago (few weeks)

It seems to be hit or miss with eBay kits. Some work great and some will blow up. Personally, I'd buy something that I know will work.

I Boosted my stock B18b1 motor at 170,xxx miles. Godspeed Ebay turbo kit. The car is my daily driver. Its at 186,xxx miles right now. No major problems at all... starts right up like a N/A car... and Boost like a 2jz supra.

Mind you, I made sure I get every necessary part to ensure longevity and reliability. And of course a tune by a reputable shop in my area.

You gotta pay to play. Every ebay kit I have seen, ethier the manifold cracks or the turbo fails. I'm just saying bro, but do what you wanna do it's your car.

PSI means absolutely nothing. and I wouldnt advise driving the car at all without a tune. agreed on Ebay kits

You need to have a compression test and leakdown test done to determine if the internals of your motor are healthy enough for boost.

Afterwards, come up with a budget and build you car around what you want to do with it within the limits of your budget.

And rule of thumb is

Your budget + $1000 for misc items

Realize youre not going to get good reliable power for cheap. and if you do, its not going to last.

6 months means jack shit when it comes to anything. Cheap kits sold on ebay are known for horrible wastegate placement, quality welding, craftsmanship, and metal. Stay away.

If youre going to boost, dont even mess around, get quality once and do it only once unless youre upgrading. You dont want to spend more time under your car than inside of it driving. Trust me on this.

Every necessary part to ensure longevity but the main components? :D

You are the 1 in 100 or 10000 people who seems to not have any issues at all running one of these. But heres a different thing to consider.

I close my eyes and walk across a busy intersection and dont get hit by a car. Does it mean its safe to keep doing it? Not at all.

The thing is, I can build a quality kit, to put on a car all said done and tuned for $2500 depending on how hard I search. Which is ridiculously cheap.

and if put side by side with a godspeed kit, or any other ebay kit, im positive it will not only last longer, but perform better, and look better at the same time.

Lol great point.
Well I meant every necessary part as in gaskets, oil restrictor, sandwich adaptor, brass fittings, feed/return lines, AEM wideband, Hondata, etc... you know stuff like that. I will admit,

Altough I will admit!... If i can do it over again... I would peice my turbo kit together. Ebay kit is (i dont want to say) Perfect for starters to get the concept of things.

And what others have said is true, ebay kits can be a hit and miss sometimes... I guess Im really that 1 in a million... knock on wood!!!!
