Boosted integra coolant issues

whats going on guys ive got a boosted 92 teg running 17psi just recently I noticed it was blowing coolant out under the hood and that my overflow tank went from empty to full thought it was the thermostat so I replaced it drove it the next day did the same thing it still runs great and dosent appear to be over heating or coming up to temp any faster then any boosted integra wondering what to check next head gasket, cracked block ? it has a cometic head gasket and arp head studs what do you guys think

nope its been dyno tuned was working great then one hot day I parked it and noticed the steam under the hood

Then you may have just ran out of luck.
Pull the head and lets hope its just a head gasket.
You'll know immediately if the sleeves are split.

Is it still blowing coolant out the tank and into the overflow?

Could just be a headgasket. 17 psi is impressive if your running stock sleeves.

Wouldn't hurt to pull the head. Stick with headgaskets like golden eagle if you run boost.

The oem cometics aren't o ringed, just 3 layer steel.

Don't forget the copper gasket spray. Best of luck.

yes stock sleeves I wasent aware you could get golden eagle head gaskets for ls motors I aways thought cometic was the way to go but im leaning more towards a cracked sleeve sinse the head gasket only has 5k on it

umm check the radiator cap. some cap go bad and they'll let coolant into the reservoir at a lower pressure.

next put a pressure tester on it

figured out the problem all 4 cylinders are cracked looks like it was basically splitting the block in half dart sleeves are on the way lol

With a good tune, and block posting 17 psi shouldn't be a problem.

You could've easily ran 17psi safely with meth water injection, the reduction in detonation is massive.

When will you be using meth injection muckman?

Ive never messed around with meth/eth injection because I run E85 as fuel but it can do great things. Its another system to tune and added complexity makes me nervous.

Blowcane you need to see if the cracks extend below the water jacket as the block may not be salvageable.

Most likely the headgasket as I had the same issues on my old LS setup way back when. Also have cracked a sleeve too, but the car did not run after that one.

One the headgasket deal, Golden Eagles's are just bored OEM ones lol. I've used OEM, Golden Eagle, and Cometic's. All of them work fine with boost and ARP headstuds. The key is to make sure the head is resurfaced and pray that your sleeves aren't cracked before taking off the head.

im using another block I had laying around and I was running snow performance meth injection for that reason to help protect my engine apparently it did not work lol
