I have a 91 ls. Lately a lot of smoke has been coming out and im not sure what to do. I was told that maybe it was a seal or something and it could be fixed by putting in thicker oil. But that didnt work. Now Im thinking its going to be the o-rings or the heads, but Im not sure. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a particular time it smokes or just all the time. Could be a bad PCV, could be something as bad as your rings being done.

Get a compression test and have a leakdown test performed at a shop to figure out where your problem is.

White smoke = coolant
blue smoke = oil

it could be bad valve seals, bad piston rings, worn valve guides, or a combination of them. A leakdown test will let you know where the leak is, and how bad it is.

normally bad guides or valve stem seals will result in a puff of smoke when u start it up but not any while driving..

Bad rings however it will smoke all the time..

Do a compression check however be prepared for high numbers normally cylinders full of oil will show high because oil in the cylinder creates better compression.
