Just got two jl 12w3v2 2ohms each (300 rms on each)....im trying to find a good amp to power them and make them sound really good....ive heard people go with a jl 500/1...but the two jl's have a total of 600 rms and i dont see how the jl amp that only pushes 500 rms can support that....

but im looking for a good amp that is not all name brand, but can power my subs really well....

The 300 rms rating for each sub is a maximum rms rating, not a requirement. They'll be fine if they get less power then they can handle. And you'll want to get a 2 channel amp for those subs, not a 1 channel. I like Precision Power amps, the older ones not the newer ones. Get a PPI made from 1996 to 2003.

wouldn't it be fine if i got a monoblock class d amp to power these?..or do i have to get two channel??...

im just wondering whats a good brand (not a big name brand that is expensive) to give these more than enough power??

i'm pretty sure you can bridge the 2 subs with the monoblock 500/1 JL... but i'm not an audio tech so you might wanna double check

Since you have two 2 ohm sub, to run them both off 1 channel you'll need to wire them in series to get a 4 ohm load, or in parallel for a 1 ohm load. Not many amps can handle a load as low as 1 ohm, and even those that can run very warm which isn't healthy for an amp. 4 ohms is comfortable for any amp, but doesn't put out the power that a 2 ohm or 1 ohm load would. That's why I think a 2 channel amp would be best for you. Run each sub by itself off each channel, amp will be purring along at 2 ohms, nice power output.

great info tegsox...so im thinkin 2 channel now...now im trying to find a good brand to power these two JL 12...any suggestions?....oh and the more amp wattage the better or should i match it just right with the subs??

It would be fine to get an amp that puts out more wattage then the subs can handle. You can just turn down the gain. It's always better to have headroom than not enough power. Bigger wattage = pigger price is all.
But like I said, I like PPI above all. Alpine is fine too. Phoenix Gold, JL.

i was thinkin about the jl 500/1...but it only puts out 500 watts, when each of my subs put out 300rms each which equals 600w...so how can the jl 500w amp handle it?

I already answered that question. And I explained why you shouldn't get a 1 channel amp.
Subs don't put out power, they accept it, they take in power.
Subs don't send power to amps....amps send power to subs.

welll i have 2 12"w3v2s and they're powered by a jl 250/1 and they sound awesome.. i think if you get the 500/1 it would be perfect... its quality power you need.. not just a high output
