Benefits of electric driven water pump as opposed to timing driven water pump

I wanted to know what the pros are of the electric driven water pump as apposed to the timing one.

Would the car start faster?
Would I gain power? and how much would I gain?

1) no...
2) from what I've read maybe ~3-5hp with a sound motor with basic i/h/e mods...

But....
1) real pain to install for maybe a few hp...
2) will possibly overcool your engine because it's working at a constant speed vs a belt driven pump...
3) should drill 2 holes in the thermostat so the water flow isn't restricted...therefore warm-up takes much longer...
4) not as reliable as a mechanical pump IMHO...
5) due to install location you need to be 100% sure there are no air pockets...

In a race app it probably makes sense but not for a dd. It's a lotta money with more cons than pro's.

Is this something like a electronic turbo that gives you ''3 psi boost and 30hp''

The only legitimate reason I would see to use one, is on a highly built, loftily revving engine with a poor OEM water pump design. Some water pumps were simply just not designed to spin like that and they will suffer from cavitation issues high rpm, sapping flow when it is needed the most.

It is really a non issue for Hondas though, as most either don't rev high enough to run into the issue or were designed well enough not to cavitate knowing they will, or may be revved to the sky.
