battery light

My battery light occasionally comes on in my car, it stays on for a little bit then goes off, then it wil flicker on and off irregularly, its not my alternator because thats brand new and not any fuses, so i don't know what it is, does anyone else know??

Where did you get the alternator from?

i got it from my brothers parts store that he worked at. Its brand new

Well most parts stores sell remanufactured units and they suck. I went through 7 on one particular car before I got one that worked for more than 5 months. Some of them didn't even last but a week or two. It is pretty common. Check all of the connections and wiring for the alternator and make sure everything is tight and making good connections. Then test the alternator with a voltmeter.
