Bad ignition switch - work around needed

Searched the forums first with no luck first.

Isolated it to know my ignition switch has gone bad. When I put the key to the second position it used to power things up. Then it mostly quit powering up until you turned to the starter position. If I hold the key just enough to stop it from going back to position two the vehicle will keep running. Let it go and it shuts off. Sometimes it will keep running but the slightest bump of the key will kill it. Sometimes you will see the dash lights flutter on and off. So... has anyone added a switch to the ignition wiring to keep the power on and a push button to fire up the ignition? Need some experienced help please.

Thought about a replacement ignition switch but that's $350.

Thanks for any help.

You might spend $220 on the switch and ignition cylinder with key. Just the ignition switch should be around $40-60.
