b20b block with a b16 head for vtec

Hello so i bought my teg with a b20b motor in it. It also has a p72 ecu and a gsr tranny. I want more power and i do not want to boost. Everything is stock except for a short ram intake and a magnaflow exhaust.
First off could you tell me which b16 head I should use (does it really matter) and im going to use the skunk 2 intake manifold when i put the head on it. also could you telll me the steps to actually do the build and what parts i need to upgrade like rods pistons, pumps, timing belts? Please just give me advise to how to do this build, im a girl and i do not want people acting like im a complete idiot. I do know my car stuff...well i should say my teggy stuff.

Generally I say to stay away from doing an ls/vtec build simply because of the reliability. These engines can be very reliable if they are built correctly, however a B18C5 swap would probably be the best bet. The C5 swap will most likely cost less than the ls/vtec build and you will get 200hp (JDM Type R) or 195hp (USDM Type R). Then following the swap, building the engine for N/A will give you some decent power increases depending on how in depth you plan to go

To this day I do not understand why people think ls/vtec motors are unreliable - if u do it right you won't have problems

It is because people don't do it right that they are often unreliable, I do agree that a properly built ls/vtec engine is very reliable but people usually won't spend the money and time to properly build the engine.

I recommend you use a GSR or ITR head instead. You'll get a bit more compression out of it instead of the B16. If you do decided to use a B16 head, Iit really doesn't matter which one you use, but the CTR one has more flow. I would start with the basic bolt on's first unless your ready to rip them motor apart. There is a ton of parts you can replace to make more HP instead of using boost. You just gotta decide if you wanna build your block or head first. Good luck!

Thats because everyone and their mom wants vtec and ppl like being cheap and lsv is the way to go. Most are done by cheap fanboys, but some ppl do them right.

Op: i am not an advocate of b20v or lsv as dd engines. Even properly built i am yet to meet anyone say they are as reliable as a gsr or itr or even just a plain Ls motor. But if u are going to do this i would recommend upgraded internals (anything that can handle the increased rpm) along with a gsr head. By the time u do this u may be in a full gsr swap range so its up to u.

any motor can be built poorly. Any motor. Not just LS Vtec.

same can be said for a gsr

Please dont give bad information. The Type R heads are the same as the B16 head with a port job. They flow DIFFERENTLY than a P72 head NOT BETTER one flows better on low end one is better on high end. The GSR is the head you want for more compression, but you cant run too much dome on your piston so overall a PR3 head is for NA and a p72 is for boost typically.

Ok Ok, Well i am iffy on vtecing it simply because i do not have much room to "play with vtec". I rev out at 6300. Soo and suggestions on bolt ons that i could add to get me the hp.

wtf? do research please. You are totally missing the requirements for B20 V...And other stuff fundimental to the build.

Honda-tech and club integra has good articles on it as well in the all motor section

if u swapped a gsr head wouldnt u run a ecu for it too? idk? wouldnt it rev to 7500 then?
yes and no...
you run an obd1 ecu chipped with something like hondata or crome and you rev up to where ever you make power until 8,9,10,11k etc
