b18b1 help

Hey guys just got an da9 teggy got a motor put together dropped it in, but wont fire up. it's a b18b1 Head.. on a b18a1 block.. that should'nt be a problem right? the distributor worked fine when i pulled the old motor out.. same with spark plugs and the wires... i pulled a spark plug out tried to crank it over to see if i'm getting spark and i'm not.. Other than trying to get it to fire up.. once it fires up, break in the motor i want to build it.. since its a b18a1 block i can prob get a vtech kit for the head unless it's cheaper to just buy a vetch head.. so any ideas on to build the motor and tranny (b16 tranny btw) would greatly be appreciated.. also i don't know how to post pictures so if ya'll can help with that id appreciate it thanks for looking.]

You can't simply buy a "vtec kit" and make your B18b1 head into a vtec head. You need to replace it with a vtec head for LS/Vtec.

There are plenty of threads about not getting spark, you should search the forum. My guess is it's an issue with the distributor/icm.

Okay i got it running for 3 minutes today then all of a sudden i lost oil pressure turned off the car asap.. there's every last drop of oil and coolant on the ground undernieth the car... i looked behind the motor and ive seen it really wet next to the oil filter.. (oh btw my spark problem was the plugs to the dizzy got em fixed and got spark)

Obviously you're leaking oil, check all your lines, hoses etc. Did you put on a filter..?

Yeah lol filter is on there.. this car is chopped up i got alot of work to do.. wire harness looks like shit need to fix some ends. uhmm alot of coolant lines are gone/by passed.. all 4 mounts are busted.. the top radiator supports are missing.. the ball joints are good but the threads are stripped... might rethread them not sure... things i could thing off the top of my head at the moment.

Sounds like you did a piss poor job of installing that motor. ^_^

Pull it back out. Change the hoses. Fix the wiring. Clean up the bay. Work on the ball joints and whatever issues it has. Reinstall motor. Enjoy.

i really like those style valve cover that you have. i got one but not on yet. i agree with prozon. half ass work means doing it twice but thats all part of the fun in learning!

and btw 1000th post ftw!!

yeah i know i did a poor job, i never put a motor together before in my life or even dropped 1 in.. when my buddy gave me the car and all the parts 2 put a motor together it was a fun project my gf and i had.. but i do have to say putting a motor together for the first time and it actuallly fired up... was a good feeling ya know? until u hear (drip drip drip) and no oil pressure haha.... but i was gonna pull it out anyways i just wanted to see if the damn thing even ran.. my teggy is going to be my new project give my eclipse a break. today i'll pull it out and take more pics of the leak and shit i have going on and the engine bay maybe ya'll can give me some tips on where all the coolant/vacum lines are. then it'll be time for the 200-250hp build.
