Axle Nuts...... I'm going Nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone I am going out on a limb here and ask a very simple and stupid question.

When untightening the Axle Nuts from the spindle they both come off " Lefty Loosy" right? I checked my replacement axles and both come off to the Left.

I am having the toughest time taking off my passenger side axle nut. The driver side came off with just the Jack Pipe for leverage and me prying the pipe. I am actually using my Holly Exhaust Pipe I removed( the one from the Cat to the middle bend) and broke an extension. I am now using the hardened set I borrowed and still its not coming off. Its like if it was glued very good on there cuz it a pain to take off. I guess I will keep trying cuz I need to replace both my axles and I want to replace my clutch.

I am using a 1 1/4 Socket but i am afraid its going to break. I may just end up buying the 34 MM Socket for the axles nut for $16. Will heating up the nut probably help break it loose. It does look a bit rusty on the hub. Maybe thats what is causing it.

Oh sorry about that. Yes I removed the bent lip on the Nuts and I have also tried using an impact gun for the nut and it still wont budge. Well I have my brother helping today so I hope I can progress. Any other ideas? That freakin nut is jammed in there!

if you don't have power tools take out your wheels center cap so the nut is exposed with the wheel on the car and use a braker bar and put a jack under the braker bar and use it to turn the axel nut if that makes sience.

Yeah, theyre a bitch. I had a 6 foot pipe and two guys hangin on it, and it wouldnt budge. We had to heat it up a bit, and we eventually just cut one of the axles in half.

Funny you should mention a 6 foot pipe. This is what I used to pry my nut off!

Third attempt was the lucky one after the fact my brother took 1/4 of the nut off with a dremel with a cuting circle. First time I broke a 3/4 inch Drive 4 inch extension right at the tip. Second I broke a High Strength 3/4 Inch Small adapter right at the tip also. I then finally gave in and bought the damn 34 MM Axle Nut Socket and a High Strenght Heat treaded 3/4 Inch Breaker Bar. That finally did the trick. Well at least it came off.

Just an update on my tanny problem:

Well my Brother and I finally got the tranny off on Wednesday and found out what the problem was that wouldn't let the car go into gear. I was surprised and amazed that I could not hear this in my tranny rattling around. Oh well but here goes. I replaced the Clutch, Pressure Plate, Throw Out Bearing, Axle Seals, and Axles with R-Axles. I am going to do the Timing belt and water pump as soon as I have the chance. I also placed Royal Purple into the tranny for good measures ($7.00 a quart! ). Man I cant be happier with the results. I love how the clutch feels and the shifting is amazing. I am so happy how things worked out. It was all worth it in the end when the Axles were installed and the tranny was filled.
