check out the SCCA website. Helmets are a must. they do provide some but are nasty/smelly helmets. All helmet must meet a standard. DOT is not high enough. I believe at least SA05 rating. There are Stock Classes meaning pretty much completly OEM parts on your car. As soon as you pretty much upgrade anything, you get bumped up to street class like STS, STU.....These classes include all suspension modes, intake, headers, no forced induction for car that came without it. Can't touch anything internal to engine. No carbon panels like hoods. Can only run street legal tires less then 245 tire width with at least 140 tread life for two wheel drive cars. Most of our car would fall into this class. As soon as you go force induction, non-stock engine internals or have carbon panels or slicks for tires they throw your car into the unlimited classes.
no need for a fire extinguisher.
but there is a pretty good car inspection. Be sure to pass. All lug nuts and funny sounds from your suspension when the car is rocked/pushed/tugged on.
what would i need?
Just to get your ass up early enough to make the 8 O'clock check in. And don't forget to bring some money? But mostly just try to have fun. Don't even think about "taking first place". Trust me i couldn't do it my first time out and still can't now. i run in the STS class and my car isn't light/balanced enough to even run close with the Pros.
Just go out and have fun. Also, very important for every class there is a Novice division. Example is STS N or STS Novice for long. there is your best chance for a win first time out(not worth any bragging rights).
Once you go to your first event, for sure take rides with the guys in the unlimited classes and will shit your pants when see how good they are.
