Audio speaker Questions ?

I have a 01 gs. I dont want to get a sub so i was wondering what kink of speakers i could get that will still produce a strong crisp sound. I was looking into the alpine spr17c speakers. does anyone know anything about them (how do they sound?, do they fit?, etc.)

Also, i see that they have shallow mount speakers. do i need these, or regular size speakers to fit in my car?

Lastly; is it okay to run the speakers without and amp? I have a jvc kdr300 stereo installed.

Thanks for any help!

If you get new speakers for the front, which arent shallow mount, you will most likely need to buy a spacer, or make one out of plywood/mdf.

A sub wont give you "crisp" sound. It will give you bass. The normal speakers will be fine w/o an amp. The headunit will supply the power to them.

I dont have experience with speakers, I just go buy some from bestbuy that are a step above the cheapest.

if you get a set of type r 6x9s for the rear and front they will sound great. you just wont have much bass.

You dont need shallow mount speakers.... if you are have depth issues you can get them, or you can just drill a baffle into the door and drill your speaker into the wooden baffle so there is more depth for your speakers. I saw Rockford had some cool punch speakers that were very install friendly, check em out

... you should get an amp for the speakers it is worth it does not alway focus on just bass you can pick an equalizer.. to change the focus of the amp's power.

No they wont fit. 6x9's sound sloppy anyway. Stick with circular speakers.

Get some components for the front. Alpine and Infiniti are good and not too expensive. Then get some new rear speakers and a 2 channel amp. Install the 2 channel on the rear speakers only and use the crossover to cut the high frequencies. Somewhere around 100. This wont equal the true bass you'd get from a good amplified subwoofer and a proper enclosure, but it will give you good low midrange and a clean clean sound.

its not hard to put them in. you just gotta cut your deck. im cutting holes in mine for my subs to fit in cuz my sub box will be set so my subs aim at the glass.

96 Integra Audio How To

I have two audio questions / options that i need help with. my goal is to replace the factory am/fm cass unit which works but there is a problem with programing radio stations; won't keep stations in memory. i am not adding amp or new speakers-i hope all i want is to have a good audio system.

-1- Pioneer Unit for '96
Hooked up my pioneer am/fm cd unit using a scosche connector....... nothing.....not even static. Later found out my 96 has Bose amplified speakers. How to connect / by pass bose amp without butchering wiring? note: the 96 does have the factory cd connector if this makes a difference.

Second Option

-2- '99 Honda Unit for '96
I have a 99 Honda am/fm/cd/cass unit however the female harness plug on this unit has more pins than my 96. will i have to butcher wiring?

I am sure you can tell i am no audio head so i hope yo u can understand my non audio lingo.

Happy New Year to All

My setup is really ideal IMO (I don't have a sub, but do have an amp). I think 6x9's are best for the rear because they have more bass response (wider cone) than say 6.5" circle components. I put 6.5" components in the front and 6x9's in the back for bass and "filler" sound. If you think 6x9's sound sloppy, then you probably just don't know how to properly set the EQ on your set-up (I'm an audio engineer). With an amplifier, it will GREATLY enhance your sound capabilities as well; for my set up, I used the crossover on my amplifier to roll-off the low end frequencies for the front components as to dedicated them to the rear. It works out very well (more detailed sound and I can crank my system much louder because the 6.5" components can't handle low end like the 6x9's can at high output).

6x9's can put out an impressive amount of bass, they just need adequate power and a good installation. It'll be more than you'll get out of a 6.5 inch woofer. I'm talking lower end bass, you'll get more lower end bass from a 6x9 than a 6.5 inch round. It's just the Laws of Physics - 6x9's have more cone area, they can move more air.
