Look for VIN numbers on both. The motors VIN should start with JH4DC2 and the tranny should have LSD written on there somewhere. You should be able to pass smog if there arnt any major performance upgrades and the car is not throwing any CELs. Good luck!

The vin may not read that it is a GSR if it was swapped into an LS. The Vin for a 4-door GSR will be JH4 DB8, and LS is a JH4 DB7. Too see if it in fact a GSR motor, you need to look at the stamp on the block. I'll link a photo for the stamp. GSR will be a b18c1, a type r motor will be a b18c5, and an imported gsr would be a b18c. Not sure if there is a stamp difference in the jdm vtec motors. My motor is an LS engine, so its a b18b1. They also come as b18a1, b18b, etc.

Shouldn't any 3rd gen Integra GSR (2 or 4 dr) engine be stamped with "B18C1"?

Yes. But he didnt say what chassis the motor is in (we wont know unless he looks at the vin), so we dont know if the body is a GSR, or if its just an engine swap. We obviously know the tranny is swapped, so maybe the motor is too.
