... I had a cold air on my 94 4dr and I never really had an issue with it. It's ok to drive in the rain, but just try to avoid it as much as possible and steer clear of big puddles. Only time youll really have to worry about hydrolock is if the intake is submerged quite deeply in a puddle...I also had a bypass filter up in the bay connecting the 2 pieces. THeres also an issue with rust on the filter, which can be hard to clean because of the way the intake is installed, it's kind of difficult to remove.Aik68j said:I plan on switching the intake either to cold air intake (I am worried about hydrolock) we get a lot of rain and puddles and the winter flooding. Some have told me short ram vs cold air return the extra amt of horsepower is not that diffrent. Then I was going to do the exhaust thing. This car is my daily driver as well it handles well now I might think about doing the shocks and spring and lowering it in the near future. Money is always an issues but, I don't wanna keep throwing cash all around.
Thanks
I just moved from Columbia (between washington and b-more) and i live in carrol county now but we dont get that much rain.. i've had my cold air on for about 6-7months and never had a hydrolock problem. Its not really the rain only if its VERY intense but the main thing to watch for is puddles or standing water, but you just have to pay close attention and go slow or dont drive in the rain.Aik68j said:I plan on switching the intake either to cold air intake (I am worried about hydrolock) we get a lot of rain and puddles and the winter flooding. I had planned on starting with the bolt on mods first see how they ran then maybe do some suspension work ( It handles great now so I am not sure I would even do that) I am not too convinced I want to do much with the outside (Spoilers graphics etc..) I never did any cam or piston mods before or had them in the plan but, if runs well maybe in the distant future.TegSox said:Are you only going to do the bolt-on mods (intake/header/high flow cat/exhaust)? Or do you also plan on doing some engine internal work (pistons, cams) in the future?
